Camper for Sale - Cherokee Lite 28"

This is from an online friend and looks like a GREAT DEAL for some lucky family!!!

We are selling our 2004 28" Cherokee Lite Travel Trailer. It has Queen Bed at one end, Bunks (one full size on bottom), couch, complete kitchen set up and can be towed by van/suv without a problem.

Boston RV is going on all week

The 40th New England RV and Camping show at the Bayside Expo Center in Boston, MA is now in progress. Since the Patriots are not playing in the AFC title game and the weather has been on the mild side (people thinking about camping), I bet today is going to be a hopping day!

Why are RV dealers are so lax on their websites?

It seems that the RV dealers for whatever reason are not updating their websites in a timely fashion.

I know Palomino is coming out with a 40' Park Trailer but there is NO mention of this on their web site. I guess this forces you to visit the RV dealer. NewEnglander's: Camper's Inn of Kingston in Merrimack, NH will be selling this new addition in the spring (most likely). Ask for John Vadala (he is a very nice and non-sleazy salesman).

The Forest River's Salem line, web site is still showing the 2005 Floor Plans even though the 2006 models have been out for quite some time now, not to mention that they have different model numbers based on what quarter they were made (e.g., Salem 381, 391, 392, etc.). Confusing?

Skyline RV, makers of Nomad and Layton, seems to keep their website up and fresh.

I'll check how Keystone does at a more reasonable hour!

Springfield Show Comments from RV.Net

When comparing the Springfield show with the Boston show some people write the following:

The cost is less for the vendors, dealers and the attendees. Note that there is a discount coupon on the website. There are also activities to help entertain the youngsters. You can easily spend a whole day there.

Have you tried the one in Springfield (Agawam) Mass week end of Feb 18 - Last year it filled 3 bldgs. Awesome.

NH Shrinking their camping show?

Why is NH Campground Owners Association shrinking their camping show? Anyone know?

In verifying my camping show page I found three NEW shows:

Two in Mass

1 in New Hampshire

I've also updated some of the information of some of the other pages. Parking is $12 at the Boston show. Is that one really good? I couldn't get a square footage on that one. The Springfield one claims to be the largest in the Northeast. Anyone have any opinion on that?

Fun at King Pine

Our family headed to Danforth Bay's "sister site/business" King Pine Ski Area at Purity Springs Resort today (1/7/06). First of all it was very weird (but nice) seeing all the summer Danforth Bay office and cleaning staff working at the King Pine ticket counter. It was great to see them and I think it was weird to see us there as well, as one of them said to us... "oh we usually see you in the summer".

Secondly, if you get there a little bit late... not to worry... King Pine has a 8-4 or a 12:30-9 full day pass!!! This worked out perfectly for us since we arrived at 11:30 and stayed until 6pm (we could have stayed later but I head enough). The night skiing was a lot of fun.

The best thing of King Pine is that the lifts lines are VERY short (even during peak hours on a Saturday) and they have a really nice area to warm up and eat lunch! The chicken strips and french fries were very good. King Pine allows you to bring in a lunch made from home.

One of the girls who mans the snack bar at Danforth Bay in the summer watched our little 1 year old at King Pine's very affordable nursery. Lianna went to ski-skool. She learned the basics but near the end she was a little bit bored but can't wait to go again! She wants to go on the tow ropes and lifts like her big brother and sister.

Niki was slightly disappointed with the terrain park (a good portion of it was closed) and "only had 2 jumps" but Austin and I found that the intermediate trails were awesome and well groomed with GREAT snow! They were making snow all day. NO ICE! We also like swerving in between trees once your got off the Powder Bear lift.

Overall, King Pine is a GREAT family place and suits many needs for a bustling family. The highly advanced skiiers might find this place a little bit lacking. However, with ski resorts prices skyrocketting these days, King Pine remains a GREAT value and lots of fun.

Live from Danforth Bay!

Hi Fellow Campers!

After a 3 month absense from DBCR we are up here at Danforth Bay on January 6th in one of the toasty warm cabins. Everything is perfect. The only crime is that several of the cabins are empty. In fact we may be the only cabin campers. There is plenty of heat and hot water here. If you plan your visit this winter at Danforth Bay's cabin you really only need to bring:

• Towels for the shower (which is in the cabin)
  
• Cooler to store ice-cubes
  
• TV (I'll check for cable hook-up later)
  
• Extra paper towels, napkins, etc. that you may typically use.
  

The only thing that I would add in the cabin is perhaps a small TV (and or radio). Guests have requested coffee makers. I'm really hoping that Danforth Bay store will be open so I get a hot cup of coffee before heading to King Pine.

Review of Lee's Family Trailer Sales in N. Windham, ME

I never heard about Lee's Family Trailer sales until I met with Sheri (one of the owners) at the Danforth Bay Camping Resort camping show. At the time she had one of the campers we were interested in (the Springdale 377BHS camper).

Lee's Family Trailer Sales is conveniently located on Rt. 302 in Windham, ME. This is about a 15-20 minute drive off the Maine Turnpike and about 1.5 hours away (maybe a bit shorter) from the Mass. border.

Lee's has a nice parts department with just about everything you can imagine. They have quite a number of quality campers as well. They have what appears to be a large lot with what looks like a good selection.

When we visited they were having a customer appreciation day with snacks and goodies and nice decorated for Christmas. All of the staff seemed very friendly.

Things to NOTE:

• Delivery is free
  
• Setup is $65.00 per hour (FY05 rates)
  
• 1 Free Service call if you buy a park model or park trailer.
  
• Price increases in January 2006
  
• Delivery on ordered items usually takes about 6 weeks
  
• A camper bought in the winter can be stored at Lee's for Free

We looked at a 2005 Layton Dexlue 3820 at Lee's Family Trailer.

Compared to the Springdale this camper is at a higher scale and has different layout for the Quad bunk-houses that we have been looking at (e.g., Springdale, Sprinter, Forest River models).

Living Area (Kitchen/DR/LR)

RV Shopping at Lee's - Pt I - Sprindale RV Review

We took a drive up to Maine yesterday (boy is the Maine Turnpike one strait, boring road) to visit Lee's Family Trailer Sales in Windham, NH. This time they were not closed. We revisited the Keystone's Springdale 377BHS and the Skyline Layton Deluxe 3820.

The Keystone Springdale is step down from the Keystone Sprinter model. Here is some notes on it:

Living Area (Kitchen/DR/LR)

• Jacknife couch
  
• No cabinets over the couch or dinette (extra large windows)

• No option for free standing dinette!

Gary's RV Center

We went to Gary's RV Center open house on the way back from camping at Harbor Hill (more on this campground later). Gary's new facility in Chichester NH (a short drive from exit 15E on I93 in Concord) is wonderful. A friendly sales rep showed us some Keystone Springdale and Sprinter bunk house models (we are considering upgrading now that we have 4 kids).
 
We dealt with the service department and got EXCELLENT service.
 
Gary's RV is recommended and they may expand to Nashua and Lebanon.
 
 

Harbor Hill

We are off to Harbor Hill this weekend. Cameron's 2nd trip. Hopefully he'll do as good as his first trip to Danforth Bay.

Harbor Hill has gotten good reviews on my web site (despite their lack of activities). Let me know if you have any input. Stay tuned for a full review.

Camping with newborns....

Well we survived... We took Brianne camping for the week at papoose pond. She was 5 weeks when started our voyage. She managed not to wake anyone except for me during those every two hour feedings. I do nurse her but sometimes bottle feed. I found it easier to put the powder formula in a bottle and just add the water when she was hungry. I asked our neighbors if they heard her and they said they didnt. We also had her sleep with us to minimize on the noise!!!

Like I said in an earlier post...

Cameron was great to camp with this past weekend. He woke up several times but understood that bottle was coming once you attended to him. The camper was messier this time around though with bottles here and there. Powder is better if you are going out somewhere and just want to mix room temp+ water. Otherwise if you are going to stay put then I probably would go with the pre-mix stuff and not worry about boiling water in the camper. Send me e-mail if you have more input...
